A Charlottetown man facing charges that include attempted murder had his case adjourned Thursday morning for him to undergo a mental health assessment.

Alex Thomas Fortune, 27, made a brief appearance before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown.

Fortune is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, arson, uttering threats to cause death and breaching his probation after an alleged incident earlier this month.

Charlottetown police arrested him after an incident on Euston Street that allegedly left two people with facial lacerations.

The police said an intentional fire caused damage to a residence during the incident.
