SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals’ two exhibition games against the Miramichi Timberwolves this weekend have been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in New Brunswick.
The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) teams were scheduled to play in Miramichi on Saturday and back at Credit Union Place in Summerside on Sunday evening.
It marks the second week in a row the Caps have had pre-season games called off. Last weekend, the Caps were scheduled to play the Amherst Ramblers and Pictou County Crushers.
The Caps’ next exhibition game is listed for Monday, Oct. 19, against Amherst in Summerside at 7 p.m.
The Caps are scheduled to open the 2020-21 regular season in Miramichi on Friday, Oct. 30. Summerside’s home opener is slated for a week later on Saturday, Nov. 7, also against the Timberwolves.
