CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who was charged as a result of one of the biggest drug investigations in the Charlottetown police force’s history was in court Monday after his arrest more than four years later.

Kendall David Buell, 50, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he asked for an adjournment on multiple drug charges.

Buell was charged as part of the Operation Clean Sweep drug investigation that saw Charlottetown police arrest almost 40 people and seize more than $400,000 in drugs in January 2014.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Buell’s arrest on charges related to alleged drug trafficking.

During his appearance Monday, Buell wore a grey T-shirt and dark jeans as he stood at the defence table with handcuffs on his wrists and his hands held in front of him.

Buell told the court he recently retained a lawyer from Halifax and asked to have the matter adjourned until May 6.
