First, the women (0-2) tangle with the Mounties (0-2) at 5 p.m., followed by the men (1-1) versus the Mounties (0-2) at 7:15 p.m.
The women lost its both games in its season-opening matchups dropping a 4-0 decision to St. F.X. and a 3-1 game to Moncton last weekend. Danielle Younker had the lone UPEI goal.
Meanwhile while the men earned a split by losing to St. F.X. 2-0 then beating Moncton 4-0. Sam Smiley (2), Neil Harte and an own goal accounted for the Panthers scoring.
Both squads host Acadia on Saturday. Game times are 3 p.m. for the women and 5:15 p.m. for the men at UPEI.
UPEI men’s head coach Lewis Page said the game was originally scheduled to be played on Friday but the team asked for a change and they obliged.
He said it will be a tricky game.
“It’s going to be their first home game so they’re going to be up for it,’’ Page said. “They want a good performance and it will be a decent crowd with an evening game. It’s going to be difficult (but) I think we’re well prepared.’’
The men’s Panthers would certainly like to see Smiley continue his offensive performance from last weekend.
“Sam was good in both games for us. He played well against St. F.X. but just didn’t get on the scoresheet. In Moncton he took his chances real well.’’
