CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Holland College Hurricanes open the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season Saturday near Truro, N.S.

The ’Canes begin their conference title defence against the Dal AC Rams before heading to Moncton Sunday for games with the Crandall Chargers. Game times are 2 (women) and 4 (men) p.m. on both days.

Men’s head coach Jonathan Vos has been impressed with what he’s saw during his team’s training camp from his squad, which includes a mix of returnees and new recruits.

“We’re looking forward to getting things started,” he said. “The team has been training hard for the past two weeks and we’re anxious to step onto the field this weekend in Truro and Moncton.”

The Hurricanes women’s team has a solid core of returning players mixed with an impressive group of rookies.

“Our players are excited to get the season started,” head coach Kris McKinnon said. “We have been focused on our goal to challenge for another ACAA title and this weekend will be a great test.”

The Hurricanes won’t play on home turf in Cornwall until Sept. 23 when they host St. Thomas for games at 2 and 4 p.m.
