P.E.I. Canada Games men's soccer team continues tuneup

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The P.E.I. Canada Games men’s soccer team continues its warmup for the 2017 Canada Summer Games with a contest versus Codiac First Touch on Thursday in Moncton, N.B.

Game time in the McCain New Brunswick Premier Soccer League matchup is 7 p.m.

The teams tied 2-2 in the first meeting last month in Charlottetown.

Codiac (2-0-4) is second in the six-team league, two points behind leader the Fredericton Reds (4-1-0), while P.E.I. is 1-1-1, good for a fourth-place tie with the N.B. Canada Games team.

Codiac is coming off a 1-1 draw with P.E.I. F.C., while the Canada Games team lost its last game 3-1 to the P.E.I. F.C.

Codiac’s Conor McCumber leads the league with seven goals, while Miguel Bryar has two scores. Donovan Bears’ two goals leads the P.E.I. scoring list.

Brandon Lund has the goalkeeping win for P.E.I. Andre LeBlanc and Louise Bergeron have split Codiac’s wins.

P.E.I. begins the Canada Games tournament Aug. 7.

The Games go July 28-Aug. 13.
