FAIRVIEW, P.E.I. – Rookies carried the day at the recent Experience Hyundai Senior Men’s Golf Tour season opener at the Countryview Golf Club.

In the senior division, Malcolm Reid shot 34 on the front nine and a back nine of 39 for a 73, two shots ahead of fellow rook Scott Purdy (75).

Those two were followed by Shane MacClure (76), Ron Garrett (77), Steve MacIsaac and Mel Bernard, each at 78 and Gary Moore (79).

In the super senior division, Frank Morrison and Eugene Murphy shot 79s to edge out Mike Sullivan, who shot 80, followed by Jamie Lund, Bill Arsenault and Frank Gaudet, all at 81.

The event drew 56 players in both divisions.

Next up the tour stops Tuesday in Mill River. Tee off is 11 a.m.
