CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Island Storm is hitting the road looking for talent.
The National Basketball League of Canada squad has combines coming up in Boston (July 6-7), California (July 13-14) and New Orleans (Aug. 3-4).
“We just want to make a connection with people in those areas and hopefully find a player or two,” head coach Tim Kendrick said.
As for specifics of what the team is looking for, Kendrick said they are seeking for more forward depth and consistent shooters. The team had a bit of a revolving door at the centre, or five spot, for most of last season.
“We went through a few guys until we found Carl (Hall) and we were very happy with Carl,” Kendrick said.

The team recently announced its protected list that includes Canadians Brad States, Kemy Osse, Tyler Scott and Chris Johnson, as well as an imports Franklin (Nitty) Session, Hall and Chris Anderson. Teams have until Aug. 15 to sign guys on their protected list.
“We’d love to get our guys back, but we also know the structure of the league, it’s going to be tough to get all seven guys back,” Kendrick acknowledged.

Some signings are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The protected list increased this season from six to seven while the salary cap has been bumped up by $10,000 to $180,000.
Teams have a 12-man roster with five of them having to be Canadian.
