Volleyball Hurricanes back home

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Holland Hurricanes’ volleyball teams return to the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement this weekend.

The women’s team hosts the Dal AC Rams on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The men entertain the UNBSJ Seawolves on Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

Women
The women’s Hurricanes are 10-1 (won-lost), and lead the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) standings. Holland College is currently ranked No. 9 in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rankings.
The Rams are 1-8 and are tied for seventh place.
The Hurricanes lead the season series 1-0 after a 3-0 road win on Sunday.
The Hurricanes currently lead the ACAA in assists per set, aces per set and points per set while sitting second in kills per set, blocks per set and hitting percentage.
Individually, Gracie Ferguson leads the conference averaging 6.95 assists per set. Dana Trainor is first in total digs with 156, and second in digs per set with an average of 4.11.

Men
The Holland College men are also in first place at 6-2, and are the CCAA’s 14th-ranked team.
The Seawolves, who are tied for second place at 5-3, defeated the Hurricanes in five sets on Nov. 6.
The Hurricanes lead the conference in kills per set, hitting percentage, assists per set and points per set.
Individually, Dominique Ryan and Nathan Archibald sit third and fourth in assists per set in the ACAA averaging 6.41 and 5.57. Ryan is also second in the conference with 15 service aces, and an average of 0.56 per set.
