HALIFAX – The UPEI Panthers will open the Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey playoffs on Tuesday.
The Panthers will visit the St. Thomas Tommies in Game 1 of the best-of-three quarter-final series. The teams return to Charlottetown for Game 2 at UPEI on Friday at 7:30 p.m. If necessary, a third and deciding game will be back in Fredericton, N.B., on Sunday at 2 p.m.
St. Thomas completed regular-season play in third place at 12-8-4 (won-lost-overtime losses). UPEI was sixth at 7-10-7.
The Tommies won three of the four regular-season meetings – 6-0, 3-1 and 3-2 in overtime. UPEI’s victory over St. Thomas was a 2-1 shootout decision.
