UPEI records road win at Dalhousie in AUS men's hockey

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Marcus Power had two goals and an assist to pace the UPEI Panthers to a 6-2 win over the Dalhousie Tigers Friday in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action in Halifax.

Cody Payne and Brent Andrews each had three assists in the road win.

Nelson Armstrong, Darcy Ashley, Gabe Guertler and Kurt Etchegary each scored once. Beau McCue and J.C. Campagna each had an assist.

Andrew Wigginton and Andrew Rieder scored for Dalhousie.

Matt Mahalak made 28 saves for the win while Jacob Fancy stopped 37 of 42 shots for Dalhousie.

UPEI held period leads of 2-0 and 3-2. The Panthers were up 3-0 until Rieder scored midway through the second and Wigginton scored with one second remaining in the period.

It remained 3-2 until Etchegary scored with 3:27 to play.

The Panthers improved to 10-13-4 and opened up a five-point lead on Dalhousie (8-16-3) in a three-way battle for two playoff spots.

UPEI finishes the weekend with a game tonight with the St. FX X-Men (14-11-2) at 7 p.m. in Antigonish, N.S.
