Panthers win fourth straight in women's hockey

HALIFAX, N.S. – Lindsay Johnston scored twice, including the game-winner, Saturday as the UPEI Panthers defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 3-1 in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action.

Rookie Sydnee Baker also scored in the road win as the Panthers stretched their win streak to four games. Maria Clinton had two assists while Kristen MacIntyre, Emma Weatherbie, Madison Clarke and Rachel Colle each added one.

Ashley Money replied with an unassisted goal for Saint Mary’s.

Marie-Soleil Deschenes made 32 saves for the Panthers while Fabiana Petricca stopped 32 shots in the loss.

UPEI, which held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1, was 2-for-6 on the power play while Dalhousie was 0-for-4.

The Panthers improved to 13-6-1 while Dalhousie is 6-14-1. UPEI travels to Antigonish, N.S., Sunday to play St. FX (12-7-0) at 2 p.m. in a key game.
