VAL-d’OR, QUE. - Captain Pierre-Olivier Joseph scored 2:28 into overtime Saturday as the Charlottetown Islanders ended their three-game Quebec road trip with a  4-3 victory over the Val-d’Or Foreurs.

Sullivan Sparkes and Pascal Aquin had power play goals while Brett Budgell scored at even strength for the Islanders. Keith Getson had two assists while singles went to Joseph, Saku Vesterinen, Derek Gentile, Nikita Alexandrov, Aquin and Daniel Hardie.

Nathan Hudgin scored twice, including one short handed, for the home side. Maxim Mizyurin also scored while former Islanders defenceman David Henley had two assists.

Matthew Welsh made 26 saves for the win while Mathieu Marquis stopped 36 shots in the loss.

Charlottetown led 1-0 after the first period but went to third trailing 3-2.

The Isles were 2-for-4 on the power play and killed all five of the Foreurs chances.

The Islanders, who have clinched a playoff spot, improved to 31-21-4-0 while Val-d’Or (19-32-3-2) is near the bottom of the standings. Charlottetown owns Val-d’Or’s first-round pick this year from the Henley trade.
