CORNWALL – Matt Craig scored in the sixth round of the shootout to lift the North River Flames to victory in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Saturday night.
The Flames, who outscored the Southside Lynx 2-1 in the shootout, emerged with a 6-5 victory at the APM Centre.
Blake Gallant scored a hat trick for the Flames, who are now 8-11-2 (won-lost-overtime losses). Keirsten Steele and Logan Aylward each had a goal and an assist to round out North River’s scoring. Tanner Hood (2) and Craig (2) had multiple-assist efforts.
Tyler Jurkowski (2-1), Brady VanderVelden (2) and Ryan Beckingham (1-2) countered for the Lynx, who took a 14-7-1 mark into Sunday night’s road game against the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces (12-5-2).
The Flames held period advantages of 2-0 and 4-3.
Summer Docherty earned the goaltending win over Koby Bridges.
