CHARLOTTETOWN – Early position will be key in the Thursday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 11-race card gets underway at 6:30 p.m., with two feature rivals fresh off wins at this same level in the evening finale.

The $2,100 top event lines up in Race 11, with Eagle Jolt controlling the rail for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Orwell Cove. The veteran son of Village Jolt was a winner in 1:56 his last start in this group, but Post 6 starter Jeb can also laid claim to a victory against similar competition in his latest outing.

Jason Hughes trains and drives Jeb – a 1:57.1 winner last week from the rail.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac gives the edge to Eagle Jolt with the favorable starting point.

"Eagle Jolt employed a different racing strategy his last time out," MacIsaac said. "It was catch me if you can, and the result was a season’s mark. Whether he duplicates that approach (Thursday) or reverts back to the rallying style, he’s still the one to knock off."

Other Race 11 entries include Artist List (Adam Merner), Oh To Be Me (Gary Chappell), Dial The Bossman (Mark Bradley), Good Luck Kathy (Walter Cheverie), Perfect Escape (Gilles Barrieau) and Keep Coming (Myles Heffernan).

Trot

The open trot reconvenes this week with Freddie back in action in that $1,850 meeting in Race 3. Campbell trains and drives Freddie for owners Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston, with the son of Majestic Son seeking to restart his win streak after having it snapped at four wins in his last start.

Dusty Lane Jacob was victorious in last week's open trot, with Freddie absent, and gets Adam Merner back in the bike for trainer Cindy MacDonald of Montague.
