After suffering his first loss of the event – a 6-5 extra-end decision – to defending-champion Steve Laycock on Friday afternoon, Casey, third stone Catlin Schneider, second stone Shaun Meachem and lead Dustin Kidby bounced back to outscore Jason Jacobsen 8-5.
Casey will face Kody Hartung in a battle of 4-1 (won-lost) rinks on Saturday. The loss dropped Jacobsen’s record to 3-2.
A total of 16 teams are competing for the right to represent Saskatchewan at the Tim Hortons Brier Canadian men’s curling championship in St. John’s, N.L., from March 4 to 12. The top four teams will advance to the Page playoff system this weekend.

Casey, who grew up in Seven Mile Bay and is a product of the junior curling program at the Silver Fox in Summerside, now resides in Winsloe. Teams in Saskatchewan are allowed one player who does not reside in the province.
The Eddie MacKenzie rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex recently earned P.E.I.’s berth.
