MORELL, P.E.I. – The Northside Gill Construction Brewers won their sixth straight game and moved into the final playoff spot after a 4-3 win over the Morell Chevies Sunday afternoon.

Jordan Stevenson picked up the win for the Brewers with 12 strikeouts throwing a six-hitter. The Chevies scores three runs to make it close in the bottom of the seventh but Stevenson struck out the side to end the threat.

Mitch Ryan led the Brewers going 3-for-3 at the plate and Bryan Linton had two hits for the Brewers.

Darcy Affleck pitched the complete game loss with seven strikeouts. Josh MacDonald and Carter MacGrath were both 1-for-2 with a walk.

Brewers play Stratford in Morell Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile in Morell, a Cardigan Clippers throwing error allowed Logan Gallant to score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Morell Chevies edged Cardigan 3-2 in a pitcher’s duel on Sunday.

The Chevies held a 2-0 lead entering the seventh, scoring a single run in the third and adding a second run on a Desi Doyle Home run in the fourth.

However, the Clippers rallied in the seventh and after a two-out error put two runners on base, Jacob Terbeek knocked in both runners with a deep double to left field.

Logan Gallant earned the win in relief of starter Andrew O’Shea. Sam Walsh took the loss in relief of starter Dean Carroll.
