P.E.I. falls to 2-4 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts

Prince Edward Island fell to 2-4 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts tonight following a 7-5 loss to Jill Brothers’ Nova Scotia rink.

Suzanne Birt, third stone Robyn MacPhee, second stone Meaghan Hughes and lead Marie Christianson dropped a 10-8 decision to Northern Ontario’s Krista McCarville in Tuesday's morning draw in round-robin action at the Canadian women’s curling championship.

Against Nova Scotia, P.E.I. had leads of 2-1 and 3-2 before Nova Scotia broke it open with a three-spot in the eighth end.

Christianson and Hughes led P.E.I., curling at 88 per cent whle Green made 80 per cent of her shots. Birt was 71 per cent against the bluenosers.

Against Northern Ontario, P.E.I. opened with four in the first end but the McCarville rink would answer with four of its own in the sixth end and hold on for the 10-8 win.

On Wednesday, the Birt rink faces Saskatchewan (4-3) in the afternoon draw before facing British Columbia (1-5) in the evening draw.
