I would like to reply to a recent article on the front page of the paper about the waterfront properties that were torn down on Water Street. Coun. Greg Rivard stated no tenants were displaced. I beg to differ. Five tenants had to find other places to live. We had until Oct. 31/2017 to move.

We were told at the time the properties were being torn down because they weren’t making any money off them (Gordon MacKay’s words). I lived there for 19 years and in those years, little was done to keep them up except for the stuff we did ourselves.
Unlike what Mr. Rivard said, these properties were not abandoned - they were our homes. And not that bad inside.
If landlords would step up and find houses with a bit lower rent, people would have affordable housing.
Just thought I’d set the record straight.
