EDITOR:

I have a hard time understanding the parking ban in the downtown Charlottetown area. I feel it is promoting drinking and driving. There are many restaurants and bars in the heart of downtown Charlottetown area affected by the parking ban. In several cases, people go out for a late supper, have a few drinks and drive home. They should be calling a taxi and leave their car parked where is it but they choose to drive home because they do not want to have their cars towed. I believe there should be a safer option for these customers.

There could be designated parking spots for these restaurants and bars so they have a safe place to leave their car and have a safe drive home. I know I would personally love having a safe place for my car to be parked.

There are enough people who choose to drink and drive when they should not, so why be adding to it? This is forcing people to make a difficult decision between drinking and driving or having their cars towed. Maybe someday they will figure out a solution.
