Mary Lauretta (nee Cullen) Waller

Mary Lauretta (Nee Cullen) Waller
Mary Lauretta Waller (nee Cullen) died in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on August 10, 2018. She was 76 years old. Mary was born on October 10, 1941 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island to the late Frank and Mildred (McKenna) Cullen. Mary married Ed Waller on May 2, 1964. Mary worked for Montreal Trust as the first female accountant the company hired. In 1972, Mary and Ed moved to Prince Rupert, B.C. Within a year they relocated to Powell River, B.C. Mary was an award-winning accountant for a Ford dealership, and later a Toyota dealership. In Powell River, Mary was also involved in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. In 1987, the Wallers returned to the Island, and Ed operated his own machine shop for 25 years until his death in 2012. Mary did the books for him. Mary loved music. She took piano lessons when the family lived in B.C. and later taught herself to play the guitar. Mary and Ed were members of the band "Wildwood Rose", where they would entertain audiences for charity, including many of Charlottetown's Community Care Homes. A visit to Mary’s home usually involved three things: a good cup of tea, an understanding ear and some pearls of wisdom. She loved to laugh and make people laugh. Her appearances as Santa Claus are legendary. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mary will be missed most by those she loved the most: her family. She is survived by her son, George (JD) Waller, and her two grandchildren, Brittain and Braden Waller; 3 siblings, Kay Shaw, Elmer (Sandra) Cullen, and Carol Curran; her sister-in-law, Veda Waller; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Ed Waller; 2 sisters, Anne Good and Elaine Cullen, and 1 brother, John Cullen. Cremation has taken place. No visitation or funeral service by personal request. Graveside service will be held at Sherwood Cemetery Saturday, August 18th, 2018 at 2 p.m. Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship at Mary’s late residence. The address is 562 Trans Canada Highway, Cornwall, P.E. Arrangements entrusted to The Jenkins Funeral Home, Millview.
