Suddenly at the Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge, Eldon, the passing of Harriet (Hattie) Elizabeth Hughes (nee Walsh) in her 89th year occurred on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Born February 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Alice (MacLean) Walsh and devoted wife of the late Harold "Harry" Joseph Hughes. Hattie is survived by her loving children, Alice Sullivan, Joseph P., Ann (Blair) Dewar, Ivan (Adilina), Joan, Eugene (Christina), George (Debby), Palma (Mike) Campbell, Parnell (Lorraine), John Allan (Elizabeth); 21 cherished grandchildren; 19 adored great grandchildren; former daughter-in-law Rosemary O’Malley-Keyes and former sons-in-law George Sullivan and Donald Johnston, sisters-in-law, Betty Kinch Walsh and Evelyn Murray Walsh; and brother-in law John Reginald "Reggie" Hughes. Predeceased by brothers Billy, Alfred, and John Walsh and her granddaughter, Patricia Sullivan. Hattie is the last surviving member of the Walsh family. Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home with visiting on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday, March 17 at 11 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, Cardigan.
