Catherine (nee Curtis) Beatty

May 7, 1947-June 19,2018 It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our beautiful sister Catherine Curtis Beatty, at home, in Kommetjie, South Africa. Cathy was the daughter of Frank and Ruth (nee Rattenbury) Curtis, and much loved sister, sister in law and aunt of John and Donna Curtis (Jason and Sarah) Cape Breton, N.S., Richey and Blair Mayne (David and John), Stratford, P.E.I. and Norah Curtis and Peter Rombough (Adrienne, Colin, Benjamin predeceased, and Julia) Nanaimo, B.C. Cathy is also survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Michael Beatty and their sons, spouses and children, Matthew, his wife Saskia and their children Raphael and Freya of Nordhoek, South Africa and Daniel, his wife Dominique and their children Torbin and Nia, Hong Kong. Having met Michael at Dalhousie University, Cathy emigrated to South Africa in 1973, and made it her other home. She established herself as a successful independent business woman with her catering business. She was a dear friend and relative to many in the Cape Town area, and returned to the Island as often as she could to be with family and friends. Cathy will be remembered for her strength and independence, her beautiful fun loving and caring spirit, her wit and her warmth and her love of family and friends. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt and friend one could ever wish for. She was loved by all and we will miss her forever. May her spirit soar. A memorial service will be held on June 29,2018 in Cape Town, SA.
