Summerside city councillors are still looking at ways to deal with user fees for city properties like sports fields.
At a meeting this week, Coun. Brian McFeely presented an updated report on recommendations first put forward at a January council meeting.

The list included facility-fee waiver requests, turf-field capital replacement and improvement, late applications and applications from outside of Summerside.
In addition to the 14 fee recommendations council has already heard, four more were added for consideration. Councillors decided to debate the recommendations at the March 26 public council meeting and vote on them as a full package.
One new recommendation suggests developing a series of groupings to deal with fee-waiver requests. The categories might include community service groups, non-sport recreation groups and private sector groups.
Another new recommendation suggested city staff members continue to work with turf field users as to what they could contribute for a dedicated turf-field improvements fund.
The other two new fee recommendations deal with late applications and applications from community groups outside the city.
Currently, the application form states that late applications will not be accepted, but not accepting late applications poses difficulties, the councillors were told.
The policy also states that groups outside city limits will be disqualified from funding. However, some groups located outside the city provide services within city limits, so it was suggested that applicants must clearly demonstrate that their programs and services are delivered in Summerside. The request for use of a facility must also show how the city and residents benefit from the suggested programs.
