SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - Summerside police say there is no reason to believe a threat made against Three Oaks Senior High is credible at this time.
Police received information Thursday afternoon that a video was circulating on social media of a student allegedly making threats toward the Summerside school and that the threat was to be carried out Friday.
Investigators are speaking with students and staff who have heard about this video, but police say no one has actually seen it so far. Police are interested in speaking with anyone who may have viewed the video, or anyone with any information about the alleged threat.
The student who is alleged to have made the video has been identified.
Three Oaks administration alerted parents by email about the threat Thursday afternoon. The email did not specify the nature of the threat, but said steps were taken to ensure the safety of the students and staff of Three Oaks.
As a precautionary measure, Summerside police will maintain a presence at the school on Friday. Staff will also be available Friday for any students who need support.
