CIBC is closing its Murray River Banking Centre.
“As more and more Canadians in both rural and urban areas are choosing to do their banking outside of traditional banking centres, we’ve needed to make some adjustments to our network, and recently made the difficult decision to close our Murray River Banking Centre and consolidate it with our Montague Banking Centre,’’ CIBC said in a statement.
The bank, which opened on Sept. 2, 1924, will close on Aug. 23, 2018.
Client accounts are being transferred to the Montague Banking Centre to ensure no disruption in service.
“Our team is currently in the process of notifying our clients of these changes both in-person and by phone,’’ says CIBC’s statement.
“Client letters will also be mailed to our clients in the coming days. While many clients in Murray River are already banking with us online, by phone or using a mobile device, our team will spend time with clients in the coming months to discuss their individual needs, as well as help them learn more about these convenient options for their everyday banking.’’
CIBC will be holding a community information meeting in Murray River on March 15 from 7-9 p.m. at the Murray River Community Hall.
CIBC says it is working with its four employees in Murray River on options available to them within CIBC.
