SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – A 29-year-old man from West Prince is in custody after allegedly assaulting two friends inside their home.

Summerside police received a call Monday at 11 p.m. from a man who said he and his wife were assaulted by a male acquaintance at their residence in Slemon Park. The caller said his wife was assaulted when she tried to intervene in the incident.

The couple was taken to Prince County Hospital for treatment of what police believe to be minor injuries.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, but was located later in the evening by the RCMP in relation to another incident.

The suspect faces charges of assault causing bodily harm, assault and damage to property. He has been in custody since his arrest, and will appear in provincial court on Dec. 6.
