Police checkpoints across P.E.I. over the Victoria Day long weekend resulted in several charges laid and tickets issued.
As part of National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day on Saturday, the RCMP checked around 3,000 vehicles at 24 checkpoints across the province.
Five drivers were arrested and charged with drunk driving offences, while one person received a drug-related roadside suspension. Seven other drivers received alcohol-related roadside suspensions.
A total of 20 alcohol screening device tests were conducted by police at the roadside.
Officers also issued 120 summary offence tickets and 40 written warnings.
