Vandalism at P.E.I.’s Red Point Provincial Park could have scattered needles around campground

SOURIS, P.E.I. - Vandalism at a P.E.I. campground could have led to some needles being scattered throughout the grounds.

The RCMP are investigating a report that a needle disposal container was vandalized at Red Point Provincial Park this week. Police say there is a possibly that the contents of the container could have been scattered throughout the campground.

The disposal container is still missing.

One person came forward to park staff with information about the incident, but the person’s name and contact information were not recorded at the time. The RCMP would like to speak to this person, or anyone else who might have information about this incident.

Calling the Souris detachment directly at 902-687-9300 or use P.E.I. Crime Stoppers to provide the information anonymously.

Park staff members are checking public areas, including playgrounds, supervised beach areas and washrooms. Guests are reminded to wear appropriate footwear during their stay.
