All P.E.I. schools are on a one-hour delay this morning but the Public Schools Branch just issued an update that the Westisle family of schools will be closed for the day as the whole Island copes with variable road conditions that include many rough ice patches and deep puddles of water on roads.
All of that will likely turn to ice and the temperatue drops all day long.
Environment Canada has ended its snowfall warnings as of 4:30 a.m. this morning, but roads are treacherous with significant amounts of slush and snow packed down by vehicle traffic into rough ice.
Temperatures diffeed substantially from tip to tip. East is warmer, West Prince is below zero. The temperature will flip the usual daytime trend by steadily going down all day.
West Prince has the most wet snow of the Island. With falling temperatures all today, wet will change to ice, making the whole day challenging.
The sun might make some appearances today as a mix of weather settles in with a mix of sun and cloud with a chance of flurries.
Today, the Confederation Bridge currently open to all traffic with no warnings in place.
FlyPEI shows the first two departues of the day were cancelled, but all other arrivals and departures are on time today. Check the airport web site for updates.
On P.E.I. today, early morning temperatures range from a high of +6.5 as St. Peters, to a low of -4.3 at North Cape.
