A Summerside man has been sentenced for his part in a violent 2017 Borden-Carleton home invasion.

Harrison William Snow, 26, of Summerside, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering into a Borden-Carleton home and covering his face with a mask while doing so.

Snow was sentenced to serve three and half years in jail, but received credit for the equivalent of 384 days of time served since his arrest. He must also pay $200 in victim surcharges, submit a DNA sample to the national criminal database and is prohibited from owning weapons upon his release.

Snow was one of four people charged in relation to the incident, which took place on July 29, just before 11 p.m.

According to the Crown’s facts in the case, several people were in the home playing video games that night when three people, one with a baseball bat and one with a small knife, came in through the unlocked door and rushed them.

The homeowner later told police that one of the assailants’ mask partially came off during the scuffle and he recognized Snow.

While two of the invaders fought with people on the first floor of the home, the third went upstairs in search of items to steal. However, they didn’t get far before they were confronted by someone already on the second floor, who used bear spray on them. Snow was also peppered with bear spray on the main floor a few moments later.

The invaders were eventually driven off and went to a nearby gas station where they got milk and poured it over their faces in an attempt to clear the bear spray. The homeowner ran to a neighbour’s house to call police.

Snow and his co-accused, Jacqueline Veronica Richard, 28, and Travis Donald Jay, 25,

were arrested over the next couple of days.

Joshua James Jenkins, 28, was also charged with helping the attackers escape after they ran from the house. He pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was sentenced in October of 2017 to 396 days in jail, though he received credit for the equivalent of 102 days he’d spent in custody since his arrest.
