Michael Robert Bryenton, 38, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown where he entered guilty pleas to several charges.
The court heard Bryenton went to Island Beach Company on Aug. 26 where he took 10 pairs of shorts into a change room.
Bryenton put four of them into a backpack and left the store.
The total value of the stolen items was $105.96.
Bryenton also failed to appear in court on two separated dates.
Before hearing his sentence, Bryenton said he has been on a roller coaster and it stemmed from his addictions.
“If I can get a hold on that I can see myself doing good in the community,” he said.
Along with the jail time, Bryenton will be on probation for one year and was ordered to pay $300 in victim surcharges.
He will be back in court Nov. 20 for sentencing after pleading guilty to breaching a probation order from a previous offence by failing to report to his probation officer.
