DUNSTAFFNAGE, P.E.I. - A male driver has received a seven-day driving suspension following a single-vehicle crash in Dunstaffnage on Canada Day.
Just after 7 p.m. July 1, members of the RCMP attended the scene on Route 6 where witnesses said the vehicle had left the road after passing another vehicle.
The vehicle that was passed had stopped as well.
Police said there was no indication from witnesses the vehicles were racing prior to the collision.
A small quantity of marijuana was seized at the scene, and the driver of the vehicle that left the road was taken to the RCMP Queens District Office where he provided breath tests.
While his blood-alcohol level was not over the legal limit, there was a sufficient quantity that he was issued a seven-day driving suspension.
The driver was also tested by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Officer, who determined that he was not impaired by marijuana or any other drug.
Police said it is not anticipated that any charges are going to be laid as a result of this incident.
