Fishers of North Lake are reaching out to the public for help after lobster lines were cut earlier this month.

“We want to help find those responsible for this terrible act,” read a statement. “This is our livelihood and a criminal act of this nature affects us all. Everyone is very upset about this incident.”

Sometime between noon on Saturday, May 12, and the morning of May 14, 240 lobster traps at the North Lake Harbour Fishing Grounds were lost in what a Kings District RCMP investigation determined was an intentional criminal act.

Fishers, as a result, have announced a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and charging of those involved.

Any member of the public who has information about this crime is asked to contact RCMP in Souris (902-687-9300) or Montague (902-838-9300). To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers are 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.peicrimestoppers.com.
