For the second time today, Maritime Electric is dealing with a major power outage.

Maritime Electric says 2,000 customers are without power in the Breadalbane, Freetown, New London, Stanley Bridge, Granville and surrounding areas. The utility has sent a crew to see what the cause of the outage is but so far they don’t know.

Earlier today, power was out for more than three hours to 600 customers in the Stanley Bridge, New London, Campbellton, Springbrook, French River and surrounding areas.

Kim Griffin, spokeswoman for Maritime Electric, said crews discovered some damage from a pole fire during last week’s ice storm that needed immediate repair, which caused that outage.
