A 24-year-old Lennox Island man has pleaded guilty to drunkenly wandering into a home in his community and inviting a teenage female babysitter to touch him sexually.

The charge is from May 28, 2017.

Devon Robert Danilo Dijulio was sentenced on Wednesday.

Dijulio was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 24 months of probation. He must also pay a $200 victim surcharge, is subject to a weapon’s prohibition, must submit a DNA sample to the national criminal database and will be registered as a sex offender for life.

On the night of the incident, the victim, who was under 16, was babysitting at a home in Lennox Island and dozed off in a living room chair after putting her charge to bed.

Close to 1 a.m. she woke up, hearing someone else in the residence. At first she pretended to be asleep and watched the intruder while he wandered around the home’s kitchen and living room.

Dijulio later said he’d knocked at the door, but found it unlocked so let himself in. The victim said she heard no knock.

Dijulio, who had been drinking most of that day, approached the victim, made some suggestive remarks and tried to touch her legs.

She told him to leave multiple times and at one point kicked him in the chest, after which he did leave.

After he was gone the victim texted the parents of the child she was babysitting, for help.

In a letter he wrote to the court, Dijulio expressed remorse for what he’d done and said that he had a drinking problem on which he has been working.
