The 2016 Inclusion Awards were presented to individuals, organizations and businesses who have made significant contributions in creating an accessible city for all citizens.

The awards are presented bi-annually during a private ceremony and chosen based on nominations and selections by the city’s civic board for persons with disabilities.
“Removing barriers for persons with disabilities is a commitment that we have made and one that has received tremendous public support,” said Coun. Mitch Tweel, chair of the civic board for persons with disabilities. “It’s important that we take time to thank those who help ensure all citizens in the capital city have access to services and programs for living a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.”

Tweel and deputy mayor Mike Duffy handed out the awards to recipients.

Mayor Clifford Lee said there are businesses and individuals in the city who go out of their way every day to help others and improve the experience of those around them.
“The Inclusion Awards give us an opportunity to honour those who have helped make our city more accessible and inclusive and let them know we appreciate the work they do.”
