Members of the Crossroads Fire Department received a call at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon notifying them of the blaze inside a residence on Buell Road.
Chief Ron Young said no one was home when the fire broke out.
He said the owner had just returned home when he reported the fire.
“He came home and found the place was full of smoke,” said Young, adding that firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the living room.
The incident caused police to shut down a portion of the road for about half an hour while firefighters extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined by the provincial fire marshal.
