Donagh, P.E.I., resident’s entry ‘Knight’ selected in RCMP Name the Puppy contest

INNISFAIL, Alta. – The RCMP has officially named its 13 new puppies, and the names include one suggestion from a P.E.I. resident.&nbsp;

Aiden Murnaghan of Donagh suggested the name “Knight,” which the Mounties ultimately selected as one of the winners in the national Name the Puppy contest.

The RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) received close to 21,000 entries to this year's contest.

Boys and girls from every province and territory in Canada sent suggestions for names.

All the entries had to start with the letter K. For multiple entries of the same name, a draw determined the winning entry.

The winners each receive a laminated photo of the puppy they named, a plush dog called Justice and an official RCMP baseball cap.

Kate – Joey Argento, Montreal, Que.
Kato – Joseph Knutson, Prince Albert, Sask.
Kaya – Audrey LeBlanc, Beresford, N.B.
Kayla – Kally Penner, Winnipegosis, Man.
Kazoo – Stefano Giordano, Toronto, Ont.
Koda – Rorie Bundt, Dawson City, Yukon
