An 18-year-old Crapaud man has been charged with impaired driving following a single vehicle collision Tuesday night.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a collision on Capital Drive Aug. 14 at 10:25 p.m.

The vehicle collided with a lamp pole at the intersection of Capital Drive and Sandstone Road.

The impact caused the air bags to deploy, causing significant damage. No injuries were reported.

Investigators determined the man was impaired and he spent the night in jail.

He was released Wednesday and will appear in provincial court at a later date.

Police encourage the public to report any instances of impaired driving by calling 911.
