Charlottetown Airport to be shut down temporarily tomorrow

The Charlottetown Airport will be closed to passengers early tomorrow from approximately 2 to 4 a.m.

The Airport Authority said that it will be performing preventive maintenance to switching gear that requires a complete shut-down of power to parking lots, the terminal, airfield lighting and radio gear that helps pilots guide aircraft on the landing strip.

Temporarily lighting will only be available in the departures area and parking lots, said the airport.

It says that early morning flights will not be affected and the airport should be back in operation by 4 a.m.

“Passengers will be allowed access into the terminal building at 4 a.m. once power has been restored,” said the airport authority. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause travellers.

There is the possibility that work might be completed prior to 4 a.m. Updates can be found that the Twitter account @FlyYYG.

A back up date for the work is set for Saturday, April 14.
