CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Canadian Bar Association young lawyers and the wills and estates section are holding a wills clinic this April in P.E.I.
The project runs April 24-28 in recognition of Law Day.
Lawyers in P.E.I. are volunteering to draft wills for a number of low-income Islanders.
The Community Legal Information Association is coordinating the application process.
The association has found that many Islanders believe they cannot afford to see a lawyer to make a will, creating a significant access to justice concern.
Low income Islanders in need of a will are encouraged to contact the association for an application form.
Completed forms must be returned by noon on March 24. Those approved to participate in the clinic will be contacted directly by a lawyer to provide instruction and obtain a will.
For an application form, email CLIA@cliapei.ca, or call 902-892-0853.
