Summerside Police deal with impaired drivers

 

 

 

SUMMERSIDE - A 19-year-old Summerside man has been arrested for drug possession and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug.

Summerside police stopped a vehicle on Queen Street due to a Highway Traffic Act infraction shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday.

When the officer approached the vehicle, a bag of suspected marijuana was observed on top of the driver's ignition interlock device.

The man displayed signs of impairment and was arrested.

He was then evaluated by a Summerside Police Service drug recognition expert and was found to be impaired.

The man was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
