PROVINCIAL COURT

An Alberton man who broke his half-sister’s ex-boyfriend’s jaw in an unprovoked attack was sentenced today to 20 days in jail.

Curklan Romey Fraser appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown after previously pleading guilty to the assault.

Douglas said it was a serious offence that caused a lot of harm to the victim.

He also said Fraser’s genuine remorse, his good character, his positive role in the community and letters of support the court received were all reflected in the sentence.

Fraser will serve the sentence Thursdays to Sundays and will be on probation for six months.

Douglas ordered Fraser to pay $1,459.92 in restitution and a $100 victim surcharge.
