Man charged for October fatal crash in York

Greg Lunn, 29, of Millcove faces charge of dangerous driving causing death of Phyllis Joan Hamill, age 66

A 29-year-old man from Millcove has been charged with dangerous driving in connection with a two-vehicle crash in York that left a woman dead.

RCMP laid the charge Monday in connection with the fatal accident, which occurred Oct. 8 on Route 25 near the intersection with the Hardy Mill / Pleasant Grove roads.

Phyllis Joan Hamill, 66, died after her vehicle was struck just after 7 p.m. on the fall evening. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries at the time.

An RCMP collision analyst, the provincial coroner, Island EMS, North Shore fire department and the Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. The analyst's conclusions along with statements of witnesses led to Monday's charges.

Greg Lunn, 29, of Millcove faces a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death. He will appear in provincial court later this month.
