Call centre growing staff by 100

Conversational CEO Tanya Lamont says the call centre in the West Royalty Industrial Park has a few hundred contracts following an aggressive marketing campaign.

So after operating with a relatively small staff since opening in the capital city a year-and-ahalf ago, Conversational is now looking to considerably boost its workforce.

The company currently employs about 21 people at the West Royalty site.

“We do have a long way to go,’’ she says.

Lamont is confident the company will be successful in hiring many workers at a starting wage of $12 per hour.

“We try to provide a fun, light atmosphere,’’ she says.

The jobs are full-time, weekday shifts between 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and include benefits. The average shift is eight hours.

Workers for the Virginiabased business answer calls, take messages, book appointments and can do live chat support sessions for businesses.

Lamont says the company has a few hundred contracts across North America with the majority in the United States.

The largest demographic is legal and financial establishments.

Local contracts on P.E.I. include a massage therapist, hair salon and an electrical company.
