Three people were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle collision near the Charlottetown Bypass sent one of the vehicles into a power pole.

A Dodge van was coming off MacAleer Drive in Charlottetown when it collided with a Hyundai SUV on Brackley Point Road at about 8:45 a.m. The collision sent the SUV into a power pole at the intersection, extensively damaging the vehicle and injuring the two women inside.

The male driver of the van was also injured and the vehicle he was driving was damaged, though less than the SUV.

None of the injuries was reported as life-threatening, but all three people were sent to hospital.

A traffic reconstructionist examined the scene and Charlottetown Police Deputy Chief Richard Collins says charges will be laid once the investigation is concluded.
