Charlottetown police announce street closures for Gold Cup Parade route

Charlottetown Police Services along with the Gold Cup parade committee have announced road closures and parking restrictions in anticipation of the Gold Cup Parade scheduled for Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m.

Residents, businesses and visitors are asked to make special travel arrangements as road closures will be in place starting at 7 a.m. along the parade route.

North River Road at Seaview to North River Road at McGill Avenue are all closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. until the completion of the parade at about noon. Only registered parade entries will be permitted via North River Road at Belvedere.

The following roads will be closed in advance of the parade between 8 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade:

North River Road at McGill continuing on North River Road to Brighton Road;

Brighton Road to Euston Street and then Euston to University Avenue;

University Avenue to Grafton Street and then Grafton to Queen Street;

Queen Street to Water Street and then Water Street to Weymouth Street ending on Water Street.

Residents, business and visitors are reminded to make alternate arrangements as accessing or leaving certain areas of the city by vehicle will be limited or inaccessible on the west side and south of the parade route. Parking on the east side of the parade route is recommended.

Parking will be prohibited along the entire parade route from the early morning hours on Friday, Aug. 15, until the conclusion of the parade. Vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense without notice.

At the conclusion of the parade, the Charlottetown Event Grounds will be used for passenger dropoff and pickup. Floats will enter the event grounds through the entrance on Water Street, and vehicles picking up participants will enter through the entrance on Grafton Street.
