Nunavut MLA faces drunk driving charges

An MLA from Nunavut is facing drunk driving charges after he allegedly drove the wrong way down a one-way street in Charlottetown.

The police arrested David Joanasie, 31, on July 7 after receiving a call about someone driving a vehicle the wrong way on Kent Street.

Joanasie is the MLA for South Baffin in Nunavut. He is charged with failing to stop for a police officer, failing the breathalyzer and impaired driving.

Joanasie is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 6.
