The sixth annual Mi’kmaq Confederacy of P.E.I. Charlottetown pow wow will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 12 and 13.

The pow wow’s objectives are to bring people together to celebrate and promote aboriginal culture. It offers an opportunity to showcase traditional Mi’kmaq drumming, singing and dancing, as well as traditional arts, crafts and food.

Confederation Landing Park on the Charlottetown waterfront is the location for the event, which this year is being held as part of the P.E.I. 2014 Celebration Zone. There will be special, live entertainment both evenings.

On Aug. 12, the entertainment will feature Mi’kmaq Legends & The Gary Sappier Blues Band. On Aug. 13, it will be the Gary Sappier Blues Band and Buffy Sainte-Marie.

The following are the times for both days:

1 p.m., grand entry;

1-5 p.m., cultural activities;

5 p.m., community feast;

7 p.m., live entertainment.
